Archie brings smiles to Estia residents

Master Archie brought smiles and unconditional furry love to staff, family and residents of #EstiaHealthMaroochydore in a post-Christmas visit.

“Today I had the absolute honour and pleasure of spending time with our #volunteer Tony at Estia Health Maroochydore, talking with all the people there,” PTSD Dogs Australia said on social media.

“This is one of our initiatives with PTSD Dogs Australia.

“One of my favourite moments was with a frail lady, we lifted Archie up to her and said ‘this is Archie’.

“The softest voice came back “Hello Archie” – the brightness in her eyes and her smile brought me to tears.”

“Volunteering just to make others smile makes life so worthwhile. For the entire time I had forgotten all my troubles and felt a deep sense of peace and gratitude.”

PTSD Dogs Australia is a not-for-profit charity that receives no funding from government or veterans services.

The organisation rescues dogs from shelters and trains dogs as service and support animals. They also work to provide trained dogs to Australian Defence Force and emergency services first responders who have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
