Legendary songwriter, Burt Bacharach, dies aged 94

One of the world’s legendary composers, Burt Bacharach, has died at the age of 94.

The Oscar winner will be best remembered for composing some of the most loved pop songs of all time, including Walk on By, I Say a Little Prayer, Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head, I’ll Never Fall in Love Again and This Guy’s in Love with You.

Mr Bacharach reportedly died of natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, a statement from his publicist, Tina Brausam revealed.

The King, Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Frank Sinatra were among the artists who covered Bacharach’s songs.

He was an eight-time Grammy winner and a three-time Oscar winner.

Back in 1982, he and his then-wife, lyricist Carole Bayer Sager, won Oscars for Best That You Can Do, the celebrated theme from the hit movie, Arthur.

His other movie soundtracks included What’s New, Pussycat?, and the 1966 Michael Caine movie, Alfie

Just a decade ago, he received the Gershwin Prize, presented to him by US President, Barack Obama (pictured, below).
