Around 3,000 visitors are expected to flock to Horsham this weekend for the first ever Horsham Truck Show.
The two-day event will feature between 100 and 150 trucks from across Australia, including Queensland and Western Australia.
Event organiser, Stephen Carman said the truck show promised something for anyone even remotely interested in trucks.
“There will be trucks of all shapes and sizes, some dating back to the 1940s and some that will have been registered for less than a week. A 1947 Ford Jailbar is sure to attract plenty of interest,” he said.
“But you don’t have to be in the trucking industry to enjoy it. We will have food stalls and live music.
“There will also be lots for the kids to do with a jumping castle, the Tiny Goats, and face painting,” Mr Carman said.
Horsham Rural City Council is helping out with logistical support and a $5,000 Community Event Grant.
Mr Carman said many travelling showgoers would stay overnight, providing a boost to the local economy.
In addition to the showgrounds activities, a convoy of trucks will roll into the city from Natimuk Road at 10am on Sunday.
“This will be great to see, and $10 from every truck will be donated to Wimmera Against Cancer in Kids,” Mr Carman said.
“We are hoping this nice weather holds out until the weekend. It should be a great event.”
Council’s Community Event Grants Program helps not-for-profit groups deliver events that benefit the municipality.
In 2024, 25 groups received funding totalling $69,960. Applications for the 2025 round of funding will open in May.
Entry to the truck show is $10 for adults, and children under 12 can attend for free.
