Teen trio charged over Toowoomba crime spree

Queensland Police have charged three people – aged 16 and 18 – following investigations into multiple alleged property offences across Toowoomba this week.

It will be alleged by Police that at some time after 10pm on Wednesday, August 23, the trio broke-in to a Colman Drive property at Middle Ridge, stealing cash and a grey Mercedes GLE35.

“At approximately 2.45pm on Friday, August 25, the stolen car was allegedly used in an attempted break and enter at a Mantiet Court property, Mount Rascal,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

Police will allege an occupant at the property heard a disturbance and interrupted the trio who fled the scene in the car.

“It will be further alleged at approximately 4.20pm on Sunday, August 27, the car was linked to an alleged burglary at a Mirrabelle Court property in Westbook,” Police said.

A number of items, including a white Audi Q3, were allegedly stolen.

“At approximately 3.15pm yesterday, August 28, the stolen Audi was tracked travelling along Condamine Street in Harristown with assistance from members of the public and Polair.”

“Officers then located the vehicle at Morgan Road in Emu Creek where it allegedly crashed into the front of a stationary police vehicle before attempting to flee.”

The vehicle was pursued by Police before they say it was abandoned along the New England Highway at Harlaxton.

Three people, including two 18-year-old men and a 16-year-old Toowoomba boy, were taken into police custody nearby a short time later.

The 16-year-old has been charged with 16 offences including three counts each of enter dwelling and commit and receiving tainted property, two counts each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, driving without a licence and attempted enter dwelling and commit, and one count each of driving under the influence, evade police, obstruct police and dangerous operation of a vehicle. He was refused police bail and is due to appear at Toowoomba Childrens Court today.

The 18-year-old Wilsonton Heights man has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle and possess tainted property.

The other man has been charged with four counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, and one count each of enter dwelling and commit, obstruct police, possess tinted property and possess utensils or pipes.

Both men are also due to appear at Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
