Senior cop injured in Kellyville car ramming

A man will appear in court today after a police vehicle was allegedly deliberately rammed at Kellyville overnight, injuring a senior police officer.

Officers from The Hills Police Area Command were called to a home on Marsden Avenue about 8.30pm on Friday due to concerns for the welfare of a resident.

“On arrival, a fully-marked NSW Police vehicle was allegedly rammed twice on the passenger side by a man driving a utility,” NSW Police said in a statement.

The officer, a Chief Inspector, suffered minor injuries; however, was able to call for urgent assistance before apprehending the man.

The 32-year-old was taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he has been charged with predatory driving; assault police (actual bodily harm); drive manner dangerous; and driver consume alcohol while driving.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today.

The Chief Inspector was checked at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital for treatment, NSW Police said.
