Intergenerational design session

Creating a new vision for intergenerational learning and livingĀ – a hands-on design workshop

You are invited to participate in a hands-on design session, where we explore what an inclusive inter-generational learning and living campus might look like.

The session will start with brief presentations from thought leaders outlining current best practice in the design of senior living and describing the Grandschools model: a campus that integrates senior living and secondary education in the one physical environment that promotes intergenerational inclusivity, active living, and learning, as well as the psychological health and wellbeing of participants of all ages.Ā
Ā
The second half of the session isĀ ā€˜design imaginingsā€™, known as a design charette, to develop ideas of how an intergenerational learning space can benefit marginalised youth and people with unique life experiences. You will be guided to work in groups, to share your ideas for creating intergenerational spaces.

TheĀ GrandschoolsĀ project is a 5 year National Health and Medical Research (NHMRC) funded project to QUT, ACU and Fulton Trotter Architects re-imagining how we might live, work and play into the future (grandschoolsproject.wordpress.com) ā€“ and we invite you to be part of the conversation!Ā

Participants will be asked to sign a consent form to allow their contributions to be used for research purposes. A research information sheet and consent form will be sent to all participants before the session.

This session is a collaboration between the Grandschools project and COTA Queensland and is supported by the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Ā
The session is 1-3pm on Wednesday 19Ā October, at the Brisbane Convention Centre at Southbank – visit theĀ Humanitix page to find out more details!
