Burdekin serves up Seniors luncheon

Burdekin Shire Council will partner with COTA Queensland and Regis Aged Care to host an Expo and Luncheon at Ayr Showgrounds in celebration of Queensland Seniors Month on Friday 28 October.

The event will include roast lunch and dessert, on-stage entertainment, information stalls, bingo, and prizes and giveaways.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor, Lyn McLaughlin said the annual event was a highlight for many and a fantastic opportunity to connect.

“The theme of Queensland Seniors Month 2022 is ‘it’s going to be a connect fest’ – celebrating social connections and encouraging all residents to maintain their wellbeing by staying social and keeping connected with friends and family,” Cr McLaughlin said.

“Council is proud to once again be hosting our Queensland Seniors Month Expo and Luncheon as part of Queensland Seniors Month celebrations, and I encourage all residents to attend. There will be information stalls on the day as well, with any organisations interested in hosting a Seniors Month-focused stall invited to phone Council to book a place.

“I want to thank COTA Queensland and the Queensland Government for once again funding this event, and Regis Aged Care for their continued support.”

The Queensland Seniors Month Expo and Luncheon will be held at the Ayr Showgrounds Hall on Friday, 28 October from 10:30am-1:30pm. Tickets must be booked in advance and can be purchased at the Burdekin Theatre Box Office or by visiting burdekintheatre.com.au. This event is jointly supported by the Queensland Government and COTA Queensland.
