Mildura Rural City Council residents aged over 55 are being encouraged to embrace the month-long Victorian Seniors Festival this October.
The state-wide initiative celebrates ageing positively while recognising the important contribution older people make to the community.
Council says it is also an opportunity to learn about activities available and provide a chance to join local clubs and groups.
It has put together a local program of events to mark the festival, with something for everyone planned, including live performances, helpful expos and library-based programs.
Councillor for Community Health and Wellbeing, Troy Bailey encouraged the community to embrace the month-long festival.
“Whether it’s enjoying a live show at the Mildura Arts Centre, attending an expo at the new Mildura Sporting Precinct or reconnecting with your local library branch, there really is something for everyone,” Cr Bailey said.
“This is a great opportunity for our senior residents to connect with the services and programs that matter to them, and to share their experiences with the wider community.”
The full program of events planned in October is available online at https://bit.ly/SeniorsFestMRCC or visiting the Mildura Visitor Information Centre or any local library branch.
The program will be updated regularly as new events are confirmed, with the program including the Mildura Be Connected Expo on Friday 14 October from 10am to 4pm at the Mildura Sporting Precinct.
