Wyong man suffers serious burns

A 59-year-old man has been placed into an induced coma after suffering serious burns at Wyong yesterday.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by paramedics at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, following reports the man had suffered burns after throwing an accelerant onto a fire.

“The male had burns to his airway and  significant burns across his body,” Westpac Rescue said.

“Local Ambulance Paramedics and Emergency Services attended the scene and commenced treatment of the male prior to being road transported to the Wyong Hospital where the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Critical Care Medical Team rendezvoused.”

“Due to the seriousness of the injuries the male was placed into a induced coma and onto life support before being flown direct to the Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney.”
