Wombat crossings to improve pedestrian safety at Willoughby

The Sydney suburb of Willoughby now has six new ‘wombat’ crossings aimed at providing better safety conditions for pedestrians.

The crossings were completed by Willoughby City Council this week and are located at:

  • Hampden Rd, ARTARMON
  • Keary St / Eaton Rd, WILLOUGHBY
  • Keary St / Oakville Rd, WILLOUGHBY
  • Merrenburn Ave / Willoughby Rd, NAREMBURN
  • Hatfield St, LANE COVE WEST
  • Kirk St, CHATSWOOD

Wombat Crossings are raised pedestrian crossings that provide greater visibility of pedestrians for approaching vehicles.

“The works were completed by the contractor in 10 days to a very high quality standard and in rainy conditions with increased traffic,” Council said in a statement today.

“At Keary Street (pictured), near Willoughby Public School, both crossings were completed in one single day.”
