A woman riding on a mobility scooter that was hit by an out of control stolen car in Corio yesterday remains in hospital in a serious condition.
Major Collision Investigation Unit and Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the crash that occurred in Shepherdson Road at around 5pm on Tuesday.
The 46-year-old Corio woman on the scooter was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old teenage boy, fled the scene but was arrested a short distance away. The boy is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
“Geelong CIU are investigating whether there is any links between the teenager allegedly involved in this collision and the teenagers, arrested in relation to the alleged high risk driving in Geelong overnight,” Victoria Police said in a statement.
Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash cam footage, and request they contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report via www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
