A 40-year-old woman has been caught behind the wheel while more than six times the legal alcohol limit in Longford today.
Police say the woman was initially detected travelling at 86km/h in a 60km/h zone on Marlborough Street, Longford about 9.45am this morning before returning a breath analysis reading of 0.301.
She was charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst exceeding the prescribed alcohol limit and was disqualified for a period of 12 months. She will also be proceeded against for the speeding offence, Police said in a statement.
“Drink driving and speeding are two of the fatal five factors contributing to our road toll, and places drivers, passengers and all other road users at risk of serious injury due to the increased likelihood of causing a crash,” said Tasmania Police.
