Woman, 97, passes away from Ballina crash injuries

A 97-year-old woman has died after being involved in a serious crash north of Ballina last week.

Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway at Tintenbar, at around 12.30pm last Wednesday, after reports a vehicle had left the roadway and hit a tree.

“A 97-year-old woman, who was travelling in the front-passenger seat, was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being airlifted to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Police have since been advised the woman died later that day.”

The driver of the car, a 35-year-old woman, and two rear-seat passengers – aged 15 and 16 – were treated for relatively minor injuries.
