Woman, 72, dies in Riverina crash

A 72-year-old woman has died following a single vehicle crash in the state’s Riverina region yesterday.

Police say that emergency services were called to Canola Way, approximately 5km east of Matong, at around 1.30pm following reports a silver Mitsubishi Lancer had struck a tree.

“Despite the efforts of emergency services, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene,” NSW Police said.

She has since been identified as a 72-year-old woman from Matong.

“Officers from Riverina Police District attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police.”

“An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.”
