Woman, 70, dies in Kambah blaze

A 70-year-old woman has died in a house fire in Kambah.

Police say that at around 7.45pm last night, officers assisted ACT Fire & Rescue in responding to reports of a fire at a home in Kambah.

“ACT Fire & Rescue located two people inside the home at the time of the fire,” ACT Policing said in a statement today.

“Sadly a 70-year-old-woman died inside the house and a 74-year-old man was treated by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics and taken to hospital.

“The cause of the fire is not yet known but at this time there does not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.”

Police are continuing their investigation. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
