Woman, 69, assaulted in Townsville break-in

Townsville police are investigating an early morning break-in of a Hermit Park home in which a 69-year-old woman was threatened with a knife.

Police say that at around 2.45am, two males possibly aged in their early 20s, forced their way into a Carmody Street home, where they confronted the woman, threatening and assaulting her, before stealing personal property and a motor vehicle.

“The woman received minor injuries that were treated at the scene,” Queensland Police said.

The stolen blue Kia sedan, with NSW registration CZ19TX was later scene in the Gulliver area and is still missing.

Anyone with information which can assist with this investigation is urged to contact police.

“Officers from the Townsville District Crime Prevention Unit spent time with the woman today, and at the house, conducting a home security audit with the local Neighbourhood Watch assisting with additional security measures,” Police said.
