Woman, 65, charged over alleged stabbing of husband

A 65-year-old woman has been charged over the alleged attempted murder of her husband in a domestic-related incident in Sydney’s Inner West last week.

“Emergency services were called to a home on Etonville Parade, Croydon, about 8.40pm on Thursday 3 December 2020, following reports a 70-year-old man was found with serious head injuries,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Officers from Burwood Police Area Command attended and following a search of the home, a 65-year-old woman, known to the man, was found in the backyard with stab wounds.”

The pair were taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, where the man remains in a serious condition.

Following inquiries, the woman – who is under police guard in hospital – was yesterday charged with cause wounding to person with intent to murder.

She was refused bail to appear via bedside hearing at Newtown Local Court, where she was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court on February 18 next year.
