Weekend libraries a good read for Lockyer Valley

Lockyer Valley residents can now enjoy weekend access to the Laidley Library after a successful recent Saturday morning trial period at Gatton Library.

Lockyer Valley Regional Council CEO, Ian Church said the Laidley Library was now open from 9am – 11.30am on Saturdays.

“We were thrilled to see the success of the six-month trial Council endorsed last year for the Saturday opening of the Gatton Library,” he said.

“We asked our community, and they told us loud and clear they would like more opportunities to spend time at the library.

“This means more time for you and your family to drop by and borrow an item or use our technology resources.

“As a Council, we recognise not all library members are able to access the facilities during business hours and we value providing access to this much-loved service to as many residents as possible.

“Libraries are an essential service to all communities and it’s our job to ensure we’re offering a service that’s convenient for as many as possible, within budget requirements,” he said.

From March, there will also be a Justice of the Peace available at the Laidley Library from 9.30am – 10.30am each Saturday morning.
