The WA Seniors Card program is been expanded to reach regional communities.
The Government is holding WA Seniors Card information events across the state to explain the benefits of the card program.
The regional roadshows include information about concessions on public transport, water rates charges, local government rates, provision of the annual Cost of Living Rebate, and the recently announced Safety and Security Rebate.
“I am pleased to announce representatives from WA Seniors Card will have held information sessions in all regions across the State by the end of the year,” said Seniors and Ageing Minister, Don Punch.
“This includes educational presentations to senior community groups about the new Safety and Security Rebate, latest information on the array of State Government concessions available to members and on-the-spot replacement card services for any worn, damaged, or lost WA Seniors Cards.
“Delivering front-line services across WA is our priority. Ensuring regional WA Seniors Card members have access to the same benefits and information services available is important to me and these roadshows will greatly assist local communities with an added layer of support,” he said.
The Safety and Security Rebate, announced in August 2021, enables WA Seniors Card members to claim up to $400 towards the purchase of eligible home security, fire safety or electrical safety items.
“Not only has the Safety and Security Rebate been an investment in keeping our seniors safe, but it has also been an investment in local businesses as well,” the Minister said.
The Scheme has already seen over $8 million in claims paid to members and more than 39,000 eligible items have been purchased, installed or repaired in seniors’ households.
WA Seniors Card is collaborating with key seniors’ interests groups, local government areas, major libraries and Community Resource Centres to deliver information sessions across each region of the State.
