Police chopper swoops on 200km/h speedster

Police have arrested a man after the Police Air Wing helicopter captured a vehicle travelling at speeds estimated to be around 200km/h.

The Police chopper was patrolling when it spotted the Toyota Kluger travelling at high speed on the West Gate Bridge.

“Police attempted to intercept the vehicle which sped off and continued to drive at excessive speeds, at one point reaching an estimated 200km/h on Sunshine Road in Tottenham,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“The Air Wing continued to observe the vehicle which stopped at an address in Elmsie Street, Sunshine West.

“The driver exited the vehicle and entered a house but was arrested a short time later.”

A 39-year-old St Kilda man is expected to be charged with failing to stop at Police direction and conduct endangering serious injury.
