Police are investigating a fire that caused substantial damage to two residential unit complexes at Coolangatta in the early hours of this morning.
Police say that at around 2.10am emergency services were called to the Coyne Street building where they discovered a large fire had broken out at the rear of the premises.
The unit complex and a neighbouring unit complex in Haig Street were evacuated and seven people were treated for smoke inhalation.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
