Two women bashed in Cranbrook carjacking

A woman and a man are assisting police with their inquiries after a 55-year-old woman and a female bystander were assaulted in a carjacking in Cranbrook.

Police will allege that a man approached the woman in the carpark of a Ross River Road medical centre as she returned to her parked vehicle.

“The man allegedly assaulted the woman before entering her car, starting it and attempting to drive away,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“A female bystander entered the vehicle and prevented it from being driven away before she was allegedly assaulted.

“The man fled on foot into local parkland in company with another woman.”

They were both apprehended by police a short time later and are expected to be charged.
