Two dead in horror crash

Two people have died and an 81-year-old man remains in a critical condition after a crash in the state’s south yesterday.

Emergency Services were called to the Riverina Highway, Howlong, 30km west of Albury about 4.45pm on Wednesday after reports of a head-on collision between a Toyota Yaris car and Toyota Landcruiser.

“The Yaris driver, a 62-year-old man, and a 54-year-old female passenger died at the scene,” NSW Police said.

“A second passenger, an 81-year-old man, was freed after being trapped. He was treated by paramedics and taken to Albury Base Hospital where he remains in a critical condition. 

“The Landcruiser driver, a 38-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to Albury Base Hospital.

“Officers from Murray River Police District attended and have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.”
