Two dead in Cloncurry crash

Two people have died in a horrific crash between a ute and a road train in Cloncurry this morning.

Police say their preliminary investigations indicate that at around 6.35am a ute travelling along the Barkly Highway, 26-kilometres west of Cloncurry, has collided with a road train.

“As a result of the collision, a 44-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy died,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“The driver of the road train was airlifted to the Mount Isa Base Hospital for treatment of his injuries.”
