Two arrested over St George hotel armed robbery

Balonne detectives have charged two men following a violent armed robbery last week that saw a 67-year-old man and 39-year-old woman injured.

Police say the two employees of a St George hotel suffered non-life-threatening-injuries during the incident last Thursday.

A car was found burnt out in a nearby laneway shortly afterwards.

A 28-year-old St George man was arrested on Wednesday morning and taken to the Toowoomba Watchhouse.

He has been charged with three counts each of armed robbery in company using personal violence, deprivation of liberty and one count each of enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, enter dwelling with intent at night in company.

A 30-year-old NSW man was arrested at Meadowbrook on the weekend. He was charged with four counts of stealing, three counts each of armed robbery in company using personal violence and deprivation of liberty.

He has also been charged with one count each of enter premises with intent to commit an indictable offence, enter dwelling with intent at night in company, arson, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and bringing stolen goods into Queensland.

They have both been remanded in custody and are next due to appear before the Saint George Magistrates Court on July 13.
