Tweed museum on lookout for volunteers

Tweed Regional Museum is launching a new Ambassador Program ahead of a full program of new exhibitions and events planned for coming months.

There are so many different ways volunteers can assist in our community and the Museum is on the lookout for engaged, motivated members to join the new Museum Ambassador Program, the Museum said in a statement this week.

Museum Ambassadors are the first point of contact for visitors to the Museum, as well as assisting with the facility’s daily operations.

Ideally, Ambassadors will be able to volunteer their time for 1-2 shifts per month with shifts lasting three hours.

Ambassadors should be open, friendly and willing to work as part of a team. They must be fully computer literate in order to answer queries using the internet and to process sales from the Museum Shop. The Museum doesn’t expect their Ambassadors to have extensive historical knowledge of the area.

Museum Director, Molly Green said the role would primarily help people enjoy their visit to the Museum with full training to be provided for any specialised tasks that may need to be performed as part of the role.

“Joining our team is a great opportunity to grow your skills, expand your knowledge of our region and meet new people,” Ms Green said.

“There are many exciting programs, exhibitions and events coming up at the Museum, so it’s also a fun and engaging way to give back to our vibrant community.”
