Trail bike rider, 62, winched to safety

A 62-year-old man was winched to safety late yesterday afternoon following a trail bike accident in a remote location south east of Armidale in NSW.

The accident at Yarrowitch saw the man suffer chest injuries after falling from his trail bike.

“Local Ambulance Paramedics and Emergency Services attended the remote location and commenced treatment of the male prior to the arrival of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Critical Care Medical Team,” Westpac Rescue said in a statement.

“Due to the terrain in the area the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team were winch inserted into the scene and assisted with treatment.

“Once stabilised the male was road transported by road Ambulance to the Helicopter which landed a short distance away before being flown direct to the Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital in a stable condition.”
