The City of Bayswater Council is hosting a Digital Expo at Bayswater Community Centre this month in celebration of Get Online Week.
The Council is helping community members brush up on their digital skills and stay safe online by hosting a free expo in celebration of Get Online Week from 20 to 26 October.
From 10am to 12pm on Monday 20 October, community members can visit Bayswater Community Centre to speak with experts from FamilyHistoryWA, Transperth, Commonwealth Bank, Services Australia and the City’s Library Service about how to access a range of services online. The City’s Digital Mentor volunteers will also be on hand to assist with basic technical queries.
From 10.30am, Tim Coghill from Technologically Speaking will deliver presentations on building a digital legacy and the free online courses that can help you stay ahead in tech.
Attendees can also enjoy free coffee and morning tea, play scam-sorting games to win prizes and meet the Library Service’s new MetaCats.
Bayswater Mayor, Filomena Piffaretti said the City’s Get Online Week Digital Expo provided community members with an opportunity to develop their digital skills and connect with others in a safe space.
“In our increasingly digital world, it can be hard to know how to find accurate information and stay safe online,” she said.
“Our Digital Expo will give people the tools they need to navigate the rapidly changing online space securely and with confidence.
“Modern communities connect online as much as face-to-face. This event gives people a chance to meet in person while learning how to interact and stay engaged in the digital world.”

Get Online Week is celebrated each year to bridge the digital divide and ensure everyone in Australia has access to digital technology. The City’s Get Online Week Digital Expo is delivered in partnership with the Good Things Foundation.
