Three teenage boys have been arrested and charged after a Queensland Police officer was injured when the trio allegedly rammed the officer’s car in a stolen Mini Cooper on Monday.
Police say that at around 3.30am, officers were called to an Attunga Street, Pelican Waters residence after the owner reported a break-in and theft of three vehicles from the property.
“Officers located one of the vehicles, a Mini Cooper, driving on Nicklin Way around 4am and a short pursuit commenced. The car was followed into Finch Court at Bokarina, where it rammed a police car,” Queensland Police said in a statement.
“The sole occupant fled the vehicle while a male senior constable suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.”
Police believe this incident is linked to the alleged armed robbery of a service station at Eumundi on August 3, where a group of four juveniles entered the business and produced a screwdriver and knife before stealing cash and cigarettes.
Police say the stolen Mercedes the group was travelling in was driven at high speed away from the scene and along the Bruce Highway.
Police arrested three boys yesterday evening in the Logan area in relation to these and multiple other recent offences involving the theft of vehicles and break-ins from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast
A 16-year-old Woodridge boy has since been charged with one count of armed robbery and attempted burglary, 14 counts of burglary, 10 counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, five counts of attempted enter dwelling, four counts of enter premises with intent and three counts of fraud.
A 16-year-old Logan Central boy has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, enter premises with intent and receiving tainted property, nine counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and five counts of burglary.
A 17-year-old Yarrabilba boy has been charged with eight counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, six counts of burglary, two counts of fraud and one count each of attempted burglary and enter premises to commit indictable offence.
They have all been denied bail to appear in Children’s Court.
