Police say that just before 12.30pm on Sunday, November 28, emergency services were called to the intersection of Goulburn and Sussex Streets, following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a taxi.

“The pedestrian – a 68-year-old woman – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, before being taken to St Vincent’s Hospital, where she later died,” NSW Police said in a statement today.

The taxi driver – a 66-year-old man – was uninjured and taken for mandatory testing.

“Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.”

Following an investigation, the 66-year-old man was issued a court attendance notice (CAN), charged with dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death) and drive vehicle without clear view.

The man is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday, February 9, 2022.
