Tasty win served up for Aveo Bridgeman Downs

Aveo’s Bridgeman Downs Retirement Village is flavour of the month after its catering team won the Silver Award for Excellence in the 2024 National Restaurant and Catering Association Awards.

The community’s Chef Manager, Jonathon Rose said he was delighted to receive the national award for Health and Aged Care Caterer recently after taking the top prize in the Queensland finals in August.

Mr Rose, who has worked with Aveo for eight years, joined the Bridgeman Downs team on Brisbane’s northside in 2022 to lead its kitchen and catering team and deliver service excellence for the 210 retirees who call the community home.

“I have worked in the hospitality industry for a long time and still love it. I’ve been able to put my mark on the food service at Bridgeman Downs and I enjoy providing a menu combining new flavours with the residents’ old favourites,’’ he said.

“Our onsite restaurant, Curlew, caters daily to the 45 residents who live in the serviced apartments and any of the independent living residents who want to enjoy a break from cooking. Residents can also invite their family and friends to join them for a meal at Curlew.

“Every day I get to see the smiles on the faces of residents as they savour the fresh, nutritious and beautifully prepared food. I also get pleasure from hearing resident’s favourite memories around food.’’

Aveo’s Chief Operating Officer, Natalie Patterson congratulated Jonathon and his team on their second award of the year.

“I am so proud of the Bridgeman Downs food services team. The national award is a wonderful recognition of Jonathon and his team’s efforts and is a testament to their commitment to providing service excellence and beautiful food for residents,’’ Ms Patterson said.

Aveo’s Bridgeman Downs Retirement Village is home to 210 residents.
