Tamworth arrests in connection to drug ring

A man and woman will face court after police seized drugs, a stun gun and stolen goods in an early morning raid on a Tamworth home yesterday.

Officers executed a second search warrant at a home on Maxwell Street, Tamworth, around 7am, seizing methylamphetamine, cannabis, an allegedly stolen sports medal, mobile phones, a watch, $650 in cash and four sets of electric scales.

A 38-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were arrested at the home and taken to Tamworth Police Station.

The West Tamworth man was charged with supply prohibited drug (between indictable and commercial quantity), knowingly deal with proceeds of crime intent to conceal, deal with property proceeds of crime, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

The woman, also from West Tamworth, was charged with three counts of possess prohibited drug, three counts of goods suspected stolen in/on premises, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and drive vehicle illicit drug in blood etc. 

They were both refused bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court today.

The arrests are part of Strike Force Kunderbung, which was established in October, with officers attached to Oxley Police District investigating an organised drug supply network operating between the Tamworth and Central Coast areas.

As part of their inquiries, strike force investigators executed three search warrants at Manilla, Barraba and Tamworth in October. Three men – aged 51 and two aged 46 – were arrested. They remain before the courts.
