Woman arrested over suspicious fire

A 78-year-old man has been rescued from a suspicious house fire at Christie Downs last night, with police charging a 48-year-old woman over the blaze.

Police say that at around 8.45pm on Wednesday, officers and firefighters were called to a unit on Rufus Crescent following reports of a fire inside the property.

“Fire crews attended and quickly extinguished the blaze however it caused extensive damage to the property,” SA Police said in a statement.

“The single occupant, a 78-year-old man, was taken by SAAS to hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation.”

A 48-year-old woman from Edwardstown has been arrested and charged with Arson. She was bailed appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on February 11.
