Surfer drowns at South Coast beach

A man in his 60s has died while surfing at a beach on the South Coast yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services responded to reports that a man had been retrieved from the water unconscious at Inyadda Beach, near Bendalong, about 5.00pm on Friday.

Surfers attempted to resuscitate the man before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and commenced treatment. Despite their efforts, he died at the scene.

Officers attached to the South Coast Police District attended and have commenced inquiries.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
