Skydiver dies in Taree crash landing

A skydiver aged his 70s has died following an incident on the NSW Mid North Coast.

Police say that at around 11.45am yesterday, emergency services were called to Taree Airport after reports a skydiver had crashed to the ground while attempting to land.

“Upon arrival, police and NSW Ambulance paramedics commenced CPR on a man aged in his 70s,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“He was taken to Manning-Base Hospital, where he died a short time later. Officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District established a crime scene and have commenced inquiries into the incident.”

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) have been notified. A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
