SES boats vandalised in weekend attack

Police are appealing for information after seven rescue boats and emergency equipment belonging to the NSW State Emergency Services (NSW SES) were damaged in the state’s Central West at the weekend.

Police say that between 5pm on Saturday and 7am on Sunday, the flood boats and equipment belonging to the NSW SES were damaged at Lake Cargelligo.

The vessels had been anchored to the lake foreshore following a rescue training day.

Officers attached to Central West Police District attended and conducted a canvas of the area.

Police established each boat had been damaged, nine fire extinguishers had contents emptied and thrown into the water, and a lifejacket containing a safety kit, radios and a box of flares were stolen.

Exhibits have been seized for forensic examination.
