Service to honour slain police officers

A State Memorial Service to honour the four Victoria Police officers who lost their lives in the Eastern Freeway tragedy in 2020 will be held this afternoon.

The service is due to be begin at 3pm at Marvel Stadium, Docklands.

The Service will honour the legacies of Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, Constable Josh Prestney and Constable Glen Humphris.

A refrigerated semi-trailer truck, driven by Mohinder Singh, crashed into the four officers on April 22, 2020, after the officers had intercepted a speeding Porsche on the freeway at Kew. Mr Singh was last year jailed for 22 years over the deaths of the officers.

“It will be an opportunity for friends, family, colleagues and members of the public to pay tribute to the lives and service of these officers,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

The service has previously been postponed in line with public health advice.
