Queensland flights go on sale

Aussies considering a Queensland holiday are set to snap up big discounts on Virgin Australia flights thanks to a $5 million Tourism Recovery Package by the Federal and Queensland Governments following ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper.

The package is partly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

The seven-day sale will run from today until 11.59pm AEST 20 February 2024 (or unless sold out prior).

“Virgin Australia’s fantastic discounts on flights will allow up to 300,000 travellers to enjoy all of what Queensland has to offer,” said Queensland Tourism Minister, Michael Healy.

“We’d love more people to visit our beautiful Tropical North because the best way to support impacted operators is to book a holiday.

“We welcome the funding that is being pumped into the region and this support will be a lifeline for many businesses.”

Tourism and Events Queensland CEO, Patricia O’Callaghan said she was expecting Aussies to get excited about the new flight deals.

“Our last partnership with Virgin Australia saw us break records as almost half a million people flocked to their site on the first day of the sale to snap up a bargain flight to Queensland,” she said.

“We are once again expecting Aussies to get excited about these deals and book their next trip to Queensland and that is great news for our tourism industry right across the state.

“In particular we’re supporting North Queensland to share its world-class adventures which are back up and running following recent weather events.”
