A Queensland couple will face court today charged following an investigation into the theft of several luxury vehicles across Sydney over the past month.
Detectives from Surry Hills Police Area Command commenced an investigation following numerous reports of vehicles being stolen from car dealerships across Sydney’s Inner West and north west.
Police have been told a man posed as a potential buyer, before taking the car for a test drive and failing to return it.
“Following extensive inquiries involving officers from Surry Hills, North Western Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad, St George Proactive Crime Team and PolAir, officers from Blacktown Police Area Command Proactive Crime Team arrested a 33-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman at a shopping centre on Patrick Street, Blacktown, about 4.15pm yesterday,” NSW Police said in a statement today.
During a search of the pair, police say several car keys were found in the woman’s handbag.
“Following further inquiries, an Audi RS3, stolen from Ryde on Wednesday 30 December 2020, was recovered in the shopping centre carpark at Blacktown, and a BMW M3, stolen from Parramatta on Monday, was recovered at Kogarah.”
The pair were taken to Blacktown Police Station where the man, from Southport in Queensland, was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, possess identity to commit indictable offence, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and three outstanding warrants.
The woman, from Miami in Queensland, was charged with goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.
They were both refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
