Police have arrested a 61-year-old inmate who escaped from Bathurst jail earlier today.
The man was reported missing from the facility on Mid-Western Highway at around noon.
Police were told he was last seen shortly after 11am.
“Officers from Chifley Police District made a search of the area and conducted inquiries to locate the man, who was last seen wearing prison greens,” NSW Police said.
Following a public appeal, the man was arrested outside the gates to the correctional facility about 4.30pm this afternoon.
“Police would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance.”
It is expected charges will be laid.
