Port Macquarie Hastings Council is mourning the passing of long-serving Councillor, Lisa Intemann, a dedicated and passionate community member whose contribution to the region has spanned decades.
Cr Intemann (pictured) passed away in John Hunter Hospital on Friday. On behalf of Council, Councillors and the wider community, Mayor Adam Roberts extended his heartfelt condolences to Cr Intemann’s family.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Lisa’s family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We stand ready to support them in any way we can,” said the Mayor.
He paid tribute to Cr Intemann, acknowledging her significant and lasting impact on the community.
“Lisa dedicated much of her life to serving the Port Macquarie-Hastings community, and her passion for making our region a better place was evident in everything she did,” he said.
“From her early days in the mid-1990s through to her many roles across Council and the community, Lisa brought care, insight and a deep understanding of local issues.
“Lisa’s contribution to public life has left a legacy, and she will be remembered not only for her service, but for the genuine way she connected with people.”
Cr Intemann was first elected to Port Macquarie Hastings Council in 1995 and served three terms to 2008. She was then re-elected to Council after the administration period in 2012, 2016, 2021 and 2024.
Mayor Roberts said she represented her community as a strong advocate with great care, insight and experience over many years.
“Her long-standing commitment to public service made a lasting contribution to our region and to the many people she has worked alongside over the years,” he said.
She was also heavily involved in several community organisations over the years.
As a mark of respect, Council will be flying the building flags at half-mast today.
Council will now take some time to reflect on Cr Intemann’s service to community and discuss appropriate ways with her community to commemorate her service and contribution to the Port Macquarie Hastings region through her various community work as both a Councillor and volunteer, the Mayor stated.
