Popular Logan connector road upgrade planned

A safer, more direct journey awaits motorists who use one of Logan’s most popular connector roads.

In a statement today, Logan City Council said preliminary planning and design had commenced to explore the upgrading of Chambers Flat Road between Logan Reserve Road, Kenny Road and Anzac Avenue at Chambers Flat and Logan Reserve.

The proposed planning includes:

  • Duplication of Geoff Philp Bridge, Logan Village;
  • Widening all roads to four lanes;
  • Adding breakdown lanes on both sides of the road;
  • Centre median strips.

“It’s important that our road infrastructure stays ahead of the city’s expected population growth,” Infrastructure Chair Councillor, Teresa Lane said.

“That’s why Council is investigating options to upgrade these roads as they form a vital connection to major arterial roads such as the Mount Lindesay Highway and the Logan Motorway,” she said.

“The road upgrade planning work will also improve flood protection and reduce travel times.

“This is only the start of a detailed process and the commencement of construction will be dependent on future Council budgets and other sources of federal or state funding we can secure.”

Council has contacted residents who may be impacted and will continue to seek community feedback throughout the process.
