Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man missing from Sydney’s north.

Stephen South, aged 52, was last seen about 8.30am on Saturday May 8, at his workplace on Kowan Road, Mooney Mooney.

“Officers from Kuring-Gai Police Area Command were notified of his disappearance after he failed to return home after going out on his ocean ski on the Hawkesbury,” NSW Police said in a statement today.

Police say the blue and red ski (pictured) he was using was recovered from Long Island later on Saturday.

Anyone who may have found this ski and took it to shore is urged to contact police.

Stephen is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm (5ft9) tall with a slim build, has a bald head and short grey facial hair.

He was last seen wearing long blue pants and a blue top.

Police and family hold concerns for his welfare as they say his disappearance is out of character.

Anyone who sees Stephen, or believes they know his whereabouts, is urged to contact Ku-Ring-Gai Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
