Police search for missing 84-year-old

Queensland Police have launched a search and rescue operation for a missing 84-year-old Penwhaupell man and his two dogs.

Police say David John Grimes (pictured) was last seen at an address on Penwhaupell Road yesterday at 1pm.

He is described as approximately 175cm tall, of slight build, with dark eyes and grey thinning hair.

Police and family believe David left his home to walk his two Jack Russell Terriers to an area known as Back Creek and failed to return that evening.

“Concerns are held for David due to his age and medical conditions,” said Queensland Police.

Police along with neighbours, family and friends conducted an immediate search of the area utilising quadbikes, motor bikes and foot patrols.

“A multi-agency operation involving police, QFES and SES, and helicopters searching creeks along the boundary of the property has so far failed to locate David,” said Police.

The search has resumed today with Dive Squad officers and SES volunteers.

Anyone who may have information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
