Police release CCTV in Fitzroy assault case

Yarra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV footage as part of their investigation into the assault of a 59-year-old man in Fitzroy earlier this year.

Police say the Fitzroy North man was assaulted by an unknown male offender after a brief encounter outside a Brunswick street shop about 12.15am on April 16.

“The man sustained a fractured skull and was taken to hospital via ambulance,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

“Police have released CCTV footage and still images of a man they believe could assist with enquiries.”

He is described as Caucasian with a distinctive blond haircut, shaved on the sides and long at the back.
