A Queensland Police officer from Blackbutt Police Station is being commended after helping rescue a family dog from a house fire in Blackbutt North earlier this month.
Emergency services were called to a Myrtle Court address about 6.40am on June 2nd following reports a house was on fire.
A short time later, the home’s 91-year-old owner and sole occupant alerted the officer that his dog was trapped on the front veranda.
Without hesitation the officer climbed over a railing and onto the veranda, safely retrieving the dog from the danger area, Queensland Police said in a statement.
“The dog was successfully rescued and reunited with her owner.”
“No serious injuries were reported and all emergency responders involved, along with the family Chihuahua, were uninjured,” Police said.
Police say the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
