Police nab alleged petrol thief

Victoria Police have arrested a 48-year-old Brooklyn woman who they say is a serial petrol thief.

Officers from Keilor Downs arrested the woman as part of an investigation into a recent series of petrol drive-off’s in Melbourne’s western suburbs. 

“It is alleged the woman was involved in at least 24 fuel thefts throughout the Brimbank and Melton areas,” Victoria Police said in a statement this afternoon.

Investigators executed a search warrant at an address on Primula Avenue, Brooklyn this morning a seized a car and other items at the scene. 

The woman is expected to be charged with 24 counts of theft and 24 counts of using false vehicle registration plates. 

The Brooklyn woman is expected to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court later today.
