Police investigate motorbike crash that killed 74-year-old rider

Queensland Police forensic officers are investigating the cause of a fatal motorcycle crash at Ravensbourne, between Esk and Hampton, on Sunday.

Police say initial information indicates that at around 8.30am, a 74-year-old man was riding a white, Triumph Thunderbird motorcycle east along Esk Hampton Road when he struck an embankment and was thrown from the bike.

“One of the man’s riding companions rendered immediate assistance and contacted police and emergency services, however the man died of his injuries at the scene,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses, including those with dashcam vision or CCTV of the rider in the lead up to and moments before the crash to come forward.
