Police hunt two men after home invasion

Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was injured during a home invasion in Sydney’s south west overnight.

Police say that at around 10pm last night, emergency services were called to a home on Humphries Road, Wakeley, following reports of a home invasion.

“Police have been told two males – one armed with a firearm – forced entry to the home, before threatening and assaulting a 41-year-old male occupant,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The males left the scene in a vehicle, described only as a 4WD.”

A 68-year-old man, four women – aged 19, 21, 38 and 64 – and two boys – aged three and seven – were also home at the time but were not injured, police said.

“The injured man was treated at the scene for a minor head laceration before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.”

“Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which has been examined by forensic officers.

“During patrols of the area, police located a pistol on nearby Canley Vale Road which has been seized for further examination.

“As inquiries continue, detectives would like to speak to two males who may be able to assist them.”

One is described as being about 180cm tall and of large build. The second man is described as being of thin build.
