Police are appealing for public assistance in their search for a man and his vehicle after an attempted abduction and assault against a child at Montagu Campground near Smithton last night.
Police believe 41-year-old Rosebery man, Cecil Maurice Mabb (pictured) may be able to assist with their investigation.
They say Mr Mabb was driving a white/silver 2008 Mazda flat tray single cab ute with Queensland registration number 317XNR at the time of the offence.
“The child received some injuries and did not require hospital treatment,” Tasmania Police said in a statement today.
“Police were last night in contact with him and believe he may have driven into bushland in the Arthur River area.
“The Westpac Rescue Helicopter is being used in the search.”
